SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PAY SCHEDULE 2265

1. Substitute teachers who are not certificated will be paid at the beginning rate of $11.50 per hour.

2. Substitute teachers who are properly certified will be paid at the beginning rate of $12.50 per hour.

2.1 After successfully completing 210 hours of substitute teaching, the substitute will have the opportunity to have their pay adjusted by $.50 per hour. To meet the required 210 hours, the substitute may combine the hours worked within the current school year and hours worked within the school year immediately prior to the current school year.

3. In order to receive this adjustment, a substitute must provide the District with evidence of hours worked. The substitute must also have the recommendation of three teachers and one principal. The Human Resource department, through an electronic survey, will collect these recommendations. It is the responsibility of the substitute to request this pay change. The hourly rate will be adjusted as the date that all of the aforementioned requirements have been met, no retroactive adjustments will be made or permitted.

4. It is the responsibility of the substitute to provide the District with a copy of their most recent teaching certificate/license in order to be paid the higher certificated rate.

5. When ten (10) working days of continuous substitute teaching for the same teacher have been completed, an additional $5 per day will be paid retroactive to the first day of assignment.

6. If the substitute is required to teach thirty-one (31) or more continuous working days for the same teacher and is properly certificated, he/she will be paid a beginning teacher's salary (Step 1, Lane 1) retroactive to the first day of assignment.

7. If not properly certificated, substitute pay will be 70-percent of the beginning teacher's salary (Step 1, Lane 1) retroactive to the first day of assignment.

8. If a substitute teacher worked a total of at least 450 hours in a single school year, the substitute will be awarded, retroactively, a one-time payment of an extra $1.00 per hour for every hour worked in the school year, up to $1,000. This payment will be paid as a single payment on the School District’s June pay-period. The substitute does not have to request this payment, as it will be calculated by the payroll department each June.
