Getting to know Sevier School District’s newly appointed superintendent Cade Douglas, Ph.D.

Cade grew up in Richfield, Utah. He was born into an educator family. His dad is a retired high school principal and his mom is a retired elementary teacher.

Cade received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. Later, he received his Master’s of Education Degree, Administrative Endorsement/License and a Reading Endorsement. He also earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Instructional and Curriculum Leadership.

Dr. Douglas has taught at the elementary, middle school, and college levels. He has experience as a literacy coach, elementary principal, secondary principal and district level administrator. One of his educator highlights was being chosen as a Fullbright Memorial recipient, where he was able to go to Japan for 3 weeks and study the school systems there. In 2007, he was selected to Utah Governor’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Assessment. He was recently selected as a member of the Utah Legislative Council on Education and the Utah Education Network Advisory Council. Dr. Douglas has particular interests in reading instruction, motivation, assessment, parental involvement, collaborative teams, and the three-tiered intervention and behavior models. He is energized about continuing to work with the dedicated and talented teachers, administrators and support staff of Sevier School District.

Cade has many hobbies including reading, camping, fishing, hunting, sports, volunteer coaching, falconry, and spending time his family. He and his wife have three children ages 13, 9, and 7 and a baby coming in October.

The Board of Education and District Administration would like to thank Superintendent Myron Mickelsen for the dedication and devotion he has demonstrated within the Sevier School District for the past three decades. Superintendent Mickelsen has demonstrated a love for the profession and sincere interest in the learning of the students in our district. He has had many successes and we wish him the best in his retirement.
