NSMS Community Council November 8, 2023
Those in attendance are Sarah Mecham, Kyleen Lyman, Angela Johnson, Rod Hinck and Paul Mecham by phone. Those not in attendance are Kylie Burgess and Tammy Okerlund.
Mr. Hinck motioned to approve the minutes from our 9/12/23 meeting. Sarah seconded the motion and all were in favor.
We talked about our digital literacy program. We have computers checked out to all students, and also 2 iMac labs with 30 computers in each lab. We do white ribbon week which is internet safety. How we have the monitoring systems the teachers use as lanschool and the Bark monitoring system that sends reports to Mr. Hinck. District filters are very good but not perfect. Cell phones are only to be used before and after school only.
Went over the school emergency and how we had had a fire drill but still need to do a lock down. We have our Hope squad, SafeUT, Mental Health Coordinator, PBIS. We do Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week , and HOPE squad week. New front door entry has helped keep people from going past the office. We have staff training regarding abuse and being conscious of the environment.
Paul Mecham shared an idea to check with janitors for ideas on how to improve safety and security.
Mr. Hinck motions we adjourn the meeting and Sarah seconded it and all were in favor.
