North Sevier Middle School Community Council Meeting on 3/22/23

Those in attendance are Rod Hinck, Angela Johnson, Kayleen Lyman, Sarah Mecham, Paul Mecham (by phone), Tammy Okerlund and Kylie Burgess. 

Rod motioned that we approve the minutes and Angela seconded the motion and all else were in favor.  

We discussed the Trustland expenditures for the 2022-2023 school year.  Expenditures are $32,200  for the teacher salary, aides salary and keeping the library open. We budgeted $2731 for IXL for (ELA) and $3,400 Professional Development Days to do training with teachers.  Budgeted $650 for Library Books with a total of $39,001.  

We then went over the plan for the 2023-2024 school year.   The planned expenditures for “Salaries and Benefits” was $49,977.  This included $23,700 to keep our current schedule of teachers, $5,600 for 34% of special education aide (remaining 66% covered by separate funding), $16,077 for additional special ed/intervention aide, $1,100 to staff the library after school, and ~$3500 for staff professional development.

An additional $3,163 would be allotted for IXL for English Language Arts ( Books and Technology/ Actions Step #5).  This brought the total Trust Lund expenditures to $53,140.   

The “Digital Citizenship/Safety Principles Component” of the plan were then discussed.  NSMS uses staff training, Lanschool, Nova and White Ribbon week to target these areas..  

Mr. Hinck motioned to approve the School Trust lands Plan and Kayleen seconded it.  All were in favor. 

Mr. Hinck motioned to adjourn the meeting and Sarah seconded it and everyone else was in favor.
