North Sevier Middle School Community Council February 21, 2024
Those in attendance are Rod Hinck, Angela Johnson, Kayleen Lyman, Sarah Mecham, Paul Mecham. Those not in attendance are Tammy Okerlund and Kylie Burgess.
Paul Motioned to approve the minutes from our November 8th meeting and everyone was in favor.
We discussed Trustland Expenditures for the 2024-2025 school year. Because of our lowering enrollment, funding from the state and Trustland is reduced. There was discussion that if we lost staff, we would need to go from 3 sections of classes in one grade to two sections. All agreed that that would not be a great solution. For this reason, we will use all of our state Trustland money to keep our current staff & schedule. This will not cover all of it so we will use other funds to supplement. We will also use other funds to obtain most of the other expenditures Trustland monies has covered.
Mr. Hinck then shared happening at NSMS over the last few months. We had kindness and hope week . We had a Stand 4 Kind assembly and Lance Allred (1st deaf NBA player) came and spoke to the kids. We also had a dance along with Hope Week. Mental Health Screening will be tonight February 21 at 6 at NSHS. Last day to turn in work is March 6 and the quarter ends on March 8. First day of 4th quarter is on March 11. Spring Break is March 25-29.
March 20, 2024 we will finalize the Trustland Plan and our Community Council Meeting.
