Retirement privileges are established by the legislature of the State of Utah and administered by the Utah State Retirement Board. Employees of Sevier School District, by virtue of their employment, become a member of the retirement plan when they meet all enrollment requirements set forth by legislation or the Utah State Retirement Board.
Elected or appointed officials of Sevier School District (other than the Superintendent and Business Administrator) are considered part-time employees and are therefore exempt from participating in the Utah Retirement Systems in accordance with statutory rules governing the Utah Retirement System. The Superintendent and Business Administrator are considered full time and are therefore eligible for all benefits offered by Sevier School District.
The following positions may be exempted from participating in the Utah Retirement Systems:
Elected Officials: Board of Education Members
Appointed Officials: Superintendent of Schools
Business Administrator
Every employee is also covered by the Social Security System of the Federal Government. The Board of Education matches the contribution of the employee.
