This policy applies only to individuals that are currently employed in a “Leave” benefited position as outlined in policy 2045.

An employee may request leave without pay when deemed such leave is reasonable and for good cause, and will not be detrimental to the educational process within the District as determined by the principal/supervisor, superintendent/designee or the Board of Education. In accordance with Sevier School District’s Leave Policy #2045, an employee may incur “leave without pay” as outlined within said policy. In the event that an employee is granted or receives leave without pay, it is understood that pay includes all regular pay and any pay appropriated directly by the state legislation as an adjustment to wages.

Leave without pay request
The principal/supervisor may authorize a leave without pay for up to 3 consecutive days. For a leave without pay request requiring 4 to 15 consecutive days the employee must request approval through the superintendent/designee. For a leave without pay request that extends beyond 15 consecutive days the employee must request approval through the Board of Education.

After the accumulation of 5 days of leave without pay during a contract year an employee may be required by the District to pay a prorated portion of their health insurance benefits. Example: an employee completes 160 days of a 182 day contract. The employee's share of the premium would be 22/182 of the premium for the contracted benefit period.
