Medical Forensics

Program Description: This course focuses on introductory skills and assessment in order to develop the ability to identify, analyze, and process logically using deductive reasoning and problem solving. Medical forensics involves many aspects of health science instruction including laboratory skills and safety, microscopy, toxicology, measurement, physical evidence identification, pathology, anthropology, etymology, psychology, blood spatter analysis, and career information.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Taught: 2nd semester, B days, Mornings session
Credit: 2.0 high school, College credit available through Snow College.
Eligibility: 12 grade, must be 18 by the end of the class or within 120 days of completing the course.
Prerequisite: Recommended: Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Health Science Introduction, or Emergency Medical Responder. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended.
Fees: $145, optional concurrent enrollment fee $45-$75.
Program Description: This is an intensive course in pre-hospital emergency care that is in compliance with the National EMS Education Standards and Utah State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services for EMT. Students successfully completing this course may be eligible for state certification as an EMT. Students will successfully complete all requirements for National Registry EMT Certification.
Exercise Science/Sports Medicine

Program Description: Students will learn components of exercise science/sports medicine; including exploration of therapeutic careers, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, first aid, injury prevention principles, the healing process, rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic modalities, sport nutrition, sport psychology, and performance enhancement philosophies.

Program Description: This course provides students with advanced emergency medical information and skills. The course introduces students to a variety of career options in emergency medicine.
Medical Terminology

Program Description: A course that helps students understand the Greek and Latin based language of medicine and healthcare. Emphasis is placed upon roots, suffixes, prefixes, abbreviations, symbols, anatomical terms, and terms associated with movements of the human body. This course also stresses the proper pronunciation, spelling, and usage of medical terminology.
