North Sevier Middle School Community Council February 15, 2023
Those in attendance are Rod Hinck, Angela Johnson, Kayleen Lyman, Sarah Mecham, Paul Mecham ( by Phone). Those not in attendance are Tammy Okerlund and Kylie Burgess.
Rod motioned that we approve the minutes from our November 11, 2022 meeting. Kayleen seconded the motion and all were in favor. We went over the Trust Land Expenditures for the 2023- 2024 plan. On March 8, 2023 we will finalize the Trustland Plan. We plan to use our Trustland money as we have done it the past to keep our class sizes to three offerings a class to keep class sizes smaller. $23,691 allows us to do this to pay for staff salaries. To hire 2 Aides and Solution Center Aide and to keep the library open after school. We also buy the IXL program for Language Arts and pay for some Staff Professional development. We are short almost 23,000 to maintain this but with TSSA funds it should cover the difference.
We went over the kindness week, hope week activities. The winning of the CUES Regional Reading Contest and how we beat all the other schools by triple the hours when averaged per student, and the kids were awarded a dance for their efforts. This went along with our hope week activities.
Upcoming events are the final checkpoint for 3rd term is 2/16 and no school on President’s Day on February 20, 2023. PE girls dance assembly will be on March 3, 2023. The end of third quarter is March 10, 2023 Spring break is April 3-7.
Next meeting will be March 8, 2023.
