BOMB THREATS

1.  Keep caller on the phone as long as possible and DO NOT hang up.  If a student is answering the phones, the student should get an adult to the phone if possible.  Signal to someone near you to alert the principal.

2.  Use the bomb threat checklist to obtain information from the caller.  Listen closely to caller's voice, speech patterns, and for background noises.

3.  After hanging up, immediately dial *57 to trace call.

4.  Principal notifies 911 and superintendent on a different phone.

5.  Principal orders evacuation of building after securing perimeter in conjunction with local law enforcement officials.   Follow standard fire drill procedures to evacuate school building(s).  Teachers should take roll of students following evacuation and use Green Card - Red Card reporting method.

6.  After consulting with the superintendent, the principal may move students to the primary relocation site off campus if the weather is inclement.

7.  No one should re-enter school building(s) until declared to be safe by fire or law enforcement  personnel.
