CIVIL DISTURBANCE

1.  Report disturbance to Office, secretary calls 911 if necessary.

2.  Principal (or designee) will issue lock-down directive.

3.  If the disturbance is outside the school, the principal may direct the custodians to lock the outside doors.

4.  Principal (or designee) notifies superintendent (or designee).

STUDENT UNREST

1.  Notify 911 if necessary.

2.  First ensure the safety of students and staff members.  Contain area of unrest; seal off as appropriate.  Attempt to calm students and move those involved to an isolated area.

3.  Notify principal.  A lock-down may be considered.  Principal notifies superintendent.

4.  Terminate bell operation.

5.  Document incidents with tape recorder or take detailed notes.
